The chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee, Florence Eshalomi MP, has written to the Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner MP, to follow up on issues raised at its recent evidence session on housing for older people, held on 1 July.

The letter specifically asks:

  • will the government respond to each of the Older People’s Housing Taskforce recommendations and, if so, will it publish this response?
  • how will the government ensure that the Long-term Housing Strategy addresses housing for older people in sufficient detail?
  • when will the Long-term Housing Strategy be published later this year?

It also raises questions relating to service charges and sale commissions on park homes and asks for responses from Government, Homes England and McCarthy Stone (in a separate letter).
