Our Top 5 Priorities for 2026 - No 3. A shared commitment to healthy and caring places
As we step into 2026, our focus is on creating homes and communities that are inclusive, resilient and future-ready. From accessible housing and intergenerational living, to healthier neighbourhoods, digital readiness, and better supported housing, our 5 top priorities highlight where action matters most.
Prioriy No 3. A shared commitment to healthy and caring places
With the 10-year NHS Plan and 2026-2036 Social and Affordable Homes Programme setting out a vision for neighbourhood health and investing in placemaking, we need to build a more resilient community infrastructure and decent, suitable housing for better population health and wellbeing outcomes.
From good spatial planning for health places to reduce health inequalities to following the Healthy Homes Standard to improve environmental impact, we call on local housing, health and care leaders to sign up to a local memorandum of understanding that spells out their shared commitment to partnership working and key preventative actions that will provide healthy homes, communities and neighbourhoods in their areas.

Lastly, building on the HAPPI and TAPPI principles, each of our top 5 priority themes for 2026 is also shaped by the core areas that will form a fundamental part of our Vivensa Foundation-funded SHAPE Exchange programme over the next 5 years. More details will be out soon to coincide with our annual conferences in Newcastle and Bristol.
