Ombudsman issues guidance on housing adaptations for disabled people

Disabled Facilities Grants cover

This new Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman Good Practice Guide supports local councils in improving services for people needing housing adaptations through Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).

It covers both minor and major home alterations, highlights real case studies, and offers key lessons. These include setting clear procedures, effective communication, accurate record-keeping, ensuring adaptations meet needs, and following additional guidance, especially for children, to avoid delays and improve outcomes for disabled individuals.
