We are excited to launch the sixth intake of the Future Leaders Programme. Sponsored by Sovereign Network Group (SNG), the FREE programme has been specifically designed for early-career professionals (with no more than three years of experience in the housing and related sectors) to aid them on their leadership journeys.

It will bring together a dynamic and diverse group of 15-20 committed individuals who share a passion for improving housing choices for an ageing population.

Over 60 early career professionals have already participated in our Future Leaders Programme since its inception.  Feedback about the value of the programme and how it has benefited them has been tremendous.

Members of last year’s cohort have said:

"This programme is valuable and relevant to anyone, at any age, stage, or background. If you are open to learning, reflecting, and growing, you already have the foundations of leadership.

I leave this programme with a clearer sense of the leader I want to become. One shaped by lived experience, resilience, and a deep desire to improve outcomes for the people we serve."

Hannah Gibson, People Director for SNG, said:

“It has never been more important for leaders across health, housing and social care to come together, learn from one another, and share what’s working. The challenges facing our sectors don’t exist in isolation — and neither should our leadership journeys. That’s why programmes like Future Leaders are so valuable: they create the space for connection, collaboration and fresh thinking.”

“Supporting the 2025–26 cohort has been an absolute privilege. I saw first‑hand just how much participants gained from the experience — in confidence, in insight and in their belief in what they can achieve. Their commitment and energy were inspiring, and I’m excited to see how they continue to shape the future of our sectors. I’m delighted that SNG is once again sponsoring this fantastic programme.”

We are now welcoming applicants from a broad range of early career roles across a range of sectors to apply for our 2026/27 cohort. Previous cohorts have included people from a variety of work backgrounds, including:

  • Operational housing management (mainstream housing, specialist/supported accommodation or housing related support)
  • Home improvement agencies or adaptation services
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Adult social care commissioning
  • NHS (community and hospitals services) and public health
  • Architecture and design
  • Assistive technology
  • Property development and planning
  • National and local charities/voluntary agencies
  • Policy, research and market insights/data

What to Expect

Kicking off in person in London in July 2026, the programme offers a unique opportunity to gain insights and inspiration from senior leaders across the housing, health, and care sectors. Through their own lived experiences and journeys into leadership, you’ll learn about the values that shaped their leadership, the people who influenced/inspired them, the leadership qualities they most admire and the early career paths that set them on their way.

Each interactive session will be designed to spark lively discussion and the exchange of ideas and experiences. The programme includes up to four in-person or online sessions over the course of the year and an invitation to an Alumni Event to meet Future Leaders from previous cohorts. And that’s not all, successful applicants will also be invited to join the Vivensa Academy (opens new window).

In return, participants will be invited to contribute a guest blog and make a vox pop reflecting on their experience and key learnings. Some examples from last year can be found here.

We then aim to conclude this year’s cohort with a ceremony in the Houses of Parliament in July 2027, where we will present certificates of participation to the sixth cohort of Future Leaders.

Jeremy Porteus, CEO of the Housing LIN, commented:

“Now into its sixth cohort, the Housing LIN Future Leaders Programme has fast become the essential programme for early career individuals working across housing, health and adult social care to share learning and leadership experiences. We are immensely grateful to SNG for their continuing support”
