New report explores how town and parish councils can lead age-friendly community development

Age friendly town and parish guide cover sml

This new guide, prepared by Arup and Housing LIN in collaboration with and on behalf of the Centre for Ageing Better, demonstrates the important role of town and parish councils in creating age-friendly communities and gives examples from local councils who are already leading the way.

The guide for towns and parishes is aimed at anyone working in town and parish councils, as well as those who are working with them.

Join Centre for Ageing Better's virtual event (opens new window) to learn more about why and how first-tier councils can improve life for older residents on Thursday 29 January 2026 from 10:00 - 11:15. They'll share what they learned from researching the current landscape of age-friendly practice in local councils, and the opportunities to use their powers, responsibilities, and reach into local communities to build the age-friendly movement.
