New housing LIN blog reflects on ten years of housing for older people in Wales
Next February marks ten years since the Welsh Government’s Expert Panel, chaired by Professor Judith Phillips, published A Housing AGEnda, setting bold ambitions for older people’s housing in Wales. In this new Housing LIN blog, Jeremy Porteus, CEO of Housing LIN, reflects on a decade of progress and missed opportunities.
While some initiatives, like digital care solutions, repurposed extra care housing, and Age-friendly strategies, show promise, many strategic priorities remain unfulfilled. Chronic deprivation, static housing supply and revenue uncertainties continue to challenge innovation.
Housing LIN Cymru aims to reignite the original vision, championing knowledge exchange, integrated care and creative housing solutions to make Wales a great place to grow older.
