New documentary explores how housing shapes health and wellbeing – Premiere in Bath

Housing and Health doc launch

A new documentary launched exploring the connection between housing and health, featuring conversations with people with lived experience, community members, and experts working in policy, research and frontline services.

The film shares real stories of how our homes shape our wellbeing, our opportunities, and our futures. It asks what needs to change to ensure everyone has a safe and healthy place to live. Whilst numbers and statistics are critical for our understanding of housing and health, sometimes the bigger picture can become blurred.

Faye Sanders, Doctoral Researcher in Housing and Health at the University of Bath, said:

"Ultimately, housing is about people, and hearing stories from people themselves can create more meaningful dialogues than statistics could generate alone. This was the inspiration behind the film project. We are really thankful to all our film interviewees, as without their openness and honesty, the film simply would not exist. We encourage you to watch the film and reflect on its key messages, and share it with those around you."

Jeremy Portues, CEO of Housing LIN, said:

"Really good to see Housing LIN 2024 Future Leaders programme member, Faye Sanders, host the premiere of her health and housing film at the University of Bath. Proud to have been interviewed for this impressive documentary on why we can’t see health and housing in isolation. Neither has the monopoly, they need to be united to build a community chest and not leave things to chance."
