New blog explores how the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge is creating more inclusive almshouse communities
We are pleased to share this new Housing LIN guest blog written by Jude Leighton, Head of Housing at United St Saviour's Charity, who explores how the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge has helped foster a more inclusive and welcoming culture across the charity's almshouses in Southwark.
Marking Pride Month, Jude reflects on the organisation's journey to achieving Pledge Pioneer status, from staff training and policy reviews to launching the Rainbow Club and creating LGBTQ+ library collections.
Through resident-led initiatives, community events and collaborative partnerships, the charity is strengthening belonging, visibility and support for LGBTQ+ older people, demonstrating how meaningful inclusion can enrich housing communities for everyone.
Jude recently shared these experiences during our HAPPI Hour webinar, Pride in Place: Celebrating inclusive housing & LGBTQ+ community initiatives, which is now available to watch on demand.
