New Housing LIN guest blog shares practical approaches to age-friendly design
In this new Housing LIN guest blog, Bianca Rossetti at the Centre for Ageing Better, explores how these new age-friendly design guides can help create more inclusive public spaces for everyone.
Developed in partnership with Arup and Housing LIN, the guides cover streets, parks, public buildings, toilets, seating, bus stops and signage, combining practical design advice with policy links and case studies.
Bianca explains that age-friendly design benefits people of all ages, much like the “curb cut effect”. She also stresses the importance of involving older residents early through co-design and access audits, while recognising that social connections matter alongside physical accessibility improvements in practice.
