New Housing LIN guest blog shares a new tool to support independent living for older adults

In this blog, Iain Scott, Senior Lecturer at the Edinburgh School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture, and Caroline Pearce, a Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, explore the need for an Ageing in Place (AiP) Standard tool that supports older adults to live independently.
With the population over 75 projected to grow significantly by 2045, the authors highlight the importance of co-produced, age-friendly environments that address climate resilience, digital inclusion, and access to services.
Drawing on research and workshops, they identify key needs and advocate for a new, inclusive tool to be co-developed with communities by 2026.
