This blog, written by John Colquhoun, Chairperson of the Board at EngageD Now, explores the journey of developing a dementia-friendly community approach in Stroud, inspired by the Dutch Meeting Centre model.

Initially centered around a single location, the initiative has evolved into a wider community-based strategy, supporting people with dementia through inclusive lunches and outreach in local hubs. Using a positive psychology and Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, the team empowers individuals to stay engaged, respected, and active in their communities. With support from the Barnwood Trust and other partners, this work continues to grow.

Read on to find out more about how people with dementia are being better engaged now, and join John and others on Thursday, 22nd May 2025 from 4pm - 5:15pm for a HAPPI Hour webinar on Dementia, Housing and Enabling Communities.
