New Housing LIN Viewpoint from ADASS President Phil Holmes calls for housing to be central to the future of adult social care

As the prime minister teases a radical long-term vision for adult social care in England, we welcome this Housing LIN Viewpoint (No. 120) from Phil Holmes, ADASS President and Director of Adults, Wellbeing and Culture at Doncaster Council, who argues that the shift in relationships needed between the NHS and adult social care must also be achieved between adult social care and housing.

He calls for a needs-led approach built on co-design and co-production, early strategic planning to reflect long housing lead times, clear allocation of risk in specialist housing and joint commissioning, and concludes that, following ADASS's "Time to Act" roadmap, it is now time for housing to have its moment.
