New APPG Inquiry report puts the spotlight on Creating Intergenerational Communities
Commissioned by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Housing and Care for Older People co-chaired by Lord Best and Anna Dixon MP, this year-long Inquiry into ‘Creating Intergenerational Communities’ explored how housing and place can support mutual support between generations.
Sponsored by Places for People and The Riverside Group, the Inquiry brought together two closely linked themes: the need for more housing designed to meet the needs of an ageing population, and the growing desire for people to live in mixed-age communities that foster interaction and mutual support between generations. Building on the original HAPPI principles, it also introduces new Intergenerational HAPPI features.
Launched today at the House of Lords, this Inquiry report highlights the benefits and design principles for intergenerational communities, emphasising older people’s health, wellbeing and social connectivity.
The Housing LIN was proud to act as the Inquiry Secretariat, lead the research and write the report.
Join us on Tuesday, 28 April 2026 from 4pm - 5pm for a HAPPI Hour webinar, chaired by Lord Best, exploring key findings from the report. For the full agenda and to register your free place, click here.
