The Housing LIN looks forward to welcoming a fantastic line-up of influential figures in this session of this year's Housing LIN Summit 2021 - A Festival of Ideas!

Drawing on latest research and policy, and the call in last week’s Adult Social Care White Paper to incentivise a better range of housing options, this session will explore examples of innovative practice to create aspirational places to attract people to ‘rightsize’ thereby improving their housing choices in later life.

Event date: Thursday, 9 December 2021 from 3pm

Let's take a closer look at who our speakers are and what they do!

Jeremy Porteus

Jeremy was formerly National Lead for Housing at the Department of Health responsible for the Extra Care Housing Fund and the Prevention Technology Grant programme. After leaving the Department, he founded the independent Housing LIN (Learning and Improvement Network), bringing together over 25,000 housing, health and social care practitioners in England, Wales and Scotland to identify and showcase innovative housing and technology enabled solutions for an ageing population.

Louise Drew

Louise specialises in the acquisition and sale of a wide range of affordable housing, but most particularly in the later living sector. Her specialist focus is on extra-care retirement living, having drafted many bespoke leases to support sustainable developments and is an expert in outright, shared ownership, buy-backs and large-scale asset disposals in the later living market.

Michael Voges

Michael Voges is the Executive Director of the Associated Retirement Community Operators (ARCO), the representative body for housing-with-care providers for older people in the UK. Michael set up ARCO on behalf of its founding members in 2012, and is a regular contributor to parliamentary inquiries, sector conferences and the press.

Dr Vikki McCall

Dr McCall is Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and Housing and Deputy Associate Dean of Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling. Her work has included extensive research on housing and ageing, focusing on the role of front-line workers, service users, volunteers and the policy process.

Michael Spellman

Michael has been with the ExtraCare Charitable Trust for the last 13 years, 8 of which have been leading the Trust’s dementia and mental wellbeing service. A psychotherapist by background, Michael’s interest in the built environment is focussed on its impact for health, wellbeing and independence.

John Nordon

John is the Creative Director for igloo Regeneration where he applies design thinking into urban design that goes beyond the traditional bricks and mortar approach, utilising consumer insight, experience design and brand strategy to develop a holistic approach to product definition. This approach creates new market demand and an unrivalled level of design quality across igloo schemes.
