Inspiring conversations at the Future Leaders Programme
Yesterday's Future Leaders Programme online meeting brought together a vibrant group of emerging leaders, innovators, and changemakers for an afternoon of learning and inspiration.
The session opened with a warm welcome from the Housing LIN’s Jeremy Porteus, and Sovereign Network Group's (SNG) Sarah Mitton and Andrew Cooper, who set the scene for a thought-provoking event focused on leadership, community, and social impact.
The first guest speaker, Louise Cannon, Director of Social Entrepreneur Support at UnLtd – The Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs, delivered an inspiring talk, sharing her background from homelessness to leadership. Her insights sparked about purpose, honesty and integrity sparked a lively Q&A session, highlighting the importance of relationships, collaboration and resilience.
Maff Potts, Founder and CEO of Camerados, shared his unique approach to leadership, setting out his journey from childhood to adulthood and the factors that have influenced him, from strong family ties, loss and bereavement to learning about the importance of human connection from people with a ‘first class degree in life’. His authentic storytelling and energy resonated deeply with attendees. This was followed by an engaging Q&A session that encouraged reflection on practical ways to create belonging in leadership roles.
The meeting concluded with reflections from Jeremy Porteus, who celebrated the enthusiasm and commitment of all participants. Sincere thanks to our generous sponsor, SNG for supporting this transformative programme and investing in the future of social leadership.
Next up, we look forward to our Alumni Event in early December which will be taking place at this year’s Stirling Prize winning almshouse, Appleby Blue.
