Affordable Homes Provision in Wales 2025-2026

The Welsh Government have published a statistical return providing data that a total of 3,865 new affordable homes were delivered in Wales last year, of which 2,859 were developed by Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) from a variety of capital funding routes, including the Welsh Social Housing Grant and Housing with Care Fund programme.

The data mainly relates to ‘general needs’ housing. This includes properties that are adapted for use for people with disabilities, but where no additional services or support are provided as part of the terms of occupancy. They accounted for 92% (2,636 units) of all additional affordable housing provision by RSLs. The remaining 8% (223 units) were housing units provided for use by particular client groups or for specific purposes, including housing with care.
