The July/August 2010 information sheet for the Department of Health personal health budgets pilot programme, "Update", has just been published.

Supported again by the Housing LIN, the Elderly Accommodation Counsel has launched its appeal to managers of all sheltered, retirement and extra care housing schemes in the UK to encourage their residents to nominate their schemes by playing the familiar card game successfully developed last year to capture the views and experiences of those playing the game.

Dementia Awareness Week - Remember the Person

Further to the Green Paper on the future of care and support in England, the government has published today its White Paper, Building the National Care Service. This sets out the vision and commitment for establishing a National Care Service and places significant focus on greater integration, partnership working and collaboration within health and social care economies.

Following the Care Services Minister's announcement at the Laing & Buisson conference last month that every council with adult social care responsibility (CASCR) is to receive a small grant allocation to further develop their extra care housing strategies and investment plans, the Department of Health have issued a Circular which includes further details of these arrangements.

Headline news: Phil Hope MP, Care Services' Minister, announced at last week's Laing & Buisson annual extra care housing conference that every authority with adult social care responsibility will be getting a slice of a £3.5m extra care grant to help develop innovative housing with care strategies.
