Market Engagement Event - Delivering Accommodation for Older People - Flitwick

Event date

Description

Central Bedfordshire Council has set ambitious targets for the delivery of accommodation for older people. As part of this it has allocated two sites for immediate development - a site in Leighton Buzzard that will be a new care or nursing home for older people replacing an existing home, and a site in Flitwick that it intends is developed as a multi-use scheme focussing on people over 55.

The Council is currently considering how these schemes will be funded, constructed and operated and is keen to get an understanding from the perspective of funding organisations, architects, construction companies, housing associations, private landlords and care providers.

It has arranged an informal workshop on 7th September 2018 from 9:30-12:30 at The Rufus Centre, Flitwick where the proposals and potential delivery options for each site will be presented.

The two schemes form part of the Council's greater ambition which could translate into the delivery of over 9000 dwellings suitable for older people in the period to 2035. These would be a mixture of specialist accommodation - care homes, extra care schemes and retirement living schemes - along with mainstream homes for older people wishing to downsize.

Central Bedfordshire Council therefore sees this workshop as an opportunity to explore the development of long-term relationships.
