Specialist Supported living for People with Complex needs and Learning Disabilities including Autism
I am the Head of OT in the Camden Learning Disabilities Service. We have been trying to develop a specialist supported living service for people with complex needs and Learning Disabilities/ Autism for a number of years and now have a site identified and a design of 6 self contained flats with some shared communal space. I would be interested to know what people are using in terms of sources of funding. This will be a high specification as it will be designed to meet the needs of our most complex cohort and the costs have dramatically increased to what was originally specified in our business case 10years ago. Any advice or support regarding funding streams would be really helpful. We would not be able to use NHSE funding as this is not to support people who are currently moving out of hospitals but some are on our DSR re risk of being admitted to hospital. The LA would also like to attach savings to this project re current financial spend but we are wary to do this as with other schemes we have not been able to deliver tangible financial savings but there have been other resource savings eg time spent reviewing people out of borough or managing safeguarding out of borough.
