Setting up Supported Living Business

Diane Morris 04/06/17 General Housing Topics

How do I start with setting up my own supported living accommodation?
I was looking to go down the route of either a private landlord or a local housing association.
Also, in Wales there are shared lives schemes, is this where I begin to find service users or is there another alternative?
I currently work in Health & Social Care in Supported living and do community calls.
I am trained to level 5 QCF in Health and Social Care, and am looking for sound advice, particularly setting up a business plan and other various questions . Thanks in advance.

I have extensive experience of working with challenging young people, offenders and those at risk, including gangs, ansylum seekers etc. I am interested in information or partnering with others to provide services and support as well as housing to young people.

Hi Diane,

I am in Wales also (cardiff) and would like to set up a supported living organisation.

Would you be interested in getting together to discuss. I am at a loss as to where to begin and would appreciate some help. Maybe we could help each other??

I part own a home for adults with mild learning disabilities it has been established for over 15 years there are 3 rooms and currently 2 resident service users. Recently we have dropped the cqc and gone under supported living. We are based in Barking East London. And currently we would like to know the best way to get another service user into the home. We've contacted the LA and are waiting for their reply regarding getting another service user in. Or resident or tenant as the term now is under the supported living bracket.

If anyone can help please email me on [log in to view email address]

Interesting. Why have you decided to drop the cqc? I suppose the LA are just waiting for the right client for your type of property.
