In a new Housing LIN report, Lois Beech, Consultancy and Partnerships Manager and Darius Ghadiali, Senior Data Analyst at Housing LIN, evaluate InCommon's online platform and the social impact of their intergenerational activities.

InCommon, a charity with a mission to fix some of these problems around ageism and loneliness, has received funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) to scale its intergenerational activity by developing an online platform to support local schools and retirement housing across the UK to set up and run intergenerational projects themselves.

Now branded as the Empower programme (opens new window), this report evaluates the effectiveness of the online platform as a tool to enable intergenerational activity, as well as the social impact of InCommon’s intergenerational activity.

Hannah Kayi Mason, InCommon's CEO, said:

“We are delighted to launch our new programme Empower, which helps us scale our work and support more people across the UK in connecting with someone from a different generation. We know from our direct delivery in London just how impactful intergenerational friendships can be and we’re excited to support groups, individuals and housing associations in delivering meaningful intergenerational activities via our Empower support package. Join our intergenerational movement and help build more age-friendly communities through intergenerational connections."

Mel Leung, InCommon's Empower Programme Manager, commented:

“Lois and the Housing LIN team have been a delight to work with. We are so grateful for Lois' expertise and support capturing and evaluating feedback from our participants. It's given us fresh and exciting insights into the value and impact of InCommon's work and has helped us strengthen our newest programme, Empower.”
