Following April’s National Autism Acceptance Month, we are delighted to collaborate with Arcadis, a leading design, engineering and consultancy solutions company, to deliver this HAPPI Hour webinar on designing housing for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

With a recent Housing LIN report, commissioned by the Learning Disability and Autism Housing Network, revealing a considerable undersupply of housing for individuals with a learning disability or autistic people, join us as we raise awareness to promote autism acceptance, celebrate neurodiversity and individual differences, and continue to advance inclusivity and connectedness in the way we design our homes and communities.

Overview

To address the growing housing demand, Bath and North Somerset Council (B&NES) is embarking on the development of supported and social housing through its B&NES Homes program, aligning with its commitment to deliver ‘the right homes in the right places’.

In this webinar, Arcadis will share how they have been engaged by the Council to design a distinctive landscape-led development comprising 16 houses and a clubhouse. This project aims to establish an exemplary community of purpose-built housing tailored for individuals living independently but requiring care and support due to learning disabilities and Autism.

You'll also gain valuable insights from NHS England on how they are working across local health, housing and care economies to improve the supply and quality of accommodation. In addition, the session will draw on the experience of local commissioning arrangements and explore examples of new schemes that are coming off the drawing board to improve the range of housing choices available.
