Dan is an Economics Director at Marrons, supporting clients in the delivery of socio-economic evidence underpinning development proposals. Dan specialises in housing need evidence, appearing as expert witness for clients in Local Plan Examinations and Public Inquiries across the country.
Dan also has experience of preparing economic and social infrastructure evidence. Projects are undertaken with the aim of providing a robust and credible evidence base to inform and support a client’s development proposal.
Dan has over 18 years’ experience in the town planning profession within the public and private sectors, including a year working overseas in Dubai, and is a chartered member of the RTPI. The past 11 years have been spent working in an economic setting for one of the largest town planning consultancies in the country, before taking the exciting opportunity to join and grow the socio-economics team at Marrons with Simon Macklen. This wide range of experience within the profession has provided Dan with an excellent understanding of the planning system, and of dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Dan prepares evidence for a variety of stakeholders at different stages of the planning process. This evidence includes demographic modelling, economic benefit statements, older persons housing need, housing mix, and socio-economic statements. Dan also prepares thought pieces on a variety of subjects which affect town planning. Following a recent thought piece concerning out-migration from London and London’s unmet housing need, Dan was invited into the Palace of Westminster to present his findings to the South East Council’s AGM.
