Amy started her career in health and social care and completed a degree in health and social care. She progressed into housing as a sheltered housing officer and loved working in housing, dealing with something different every day.

Amy spent 12 months as a sheltered housing officer before starting as a team leader so had to learn a lot very quickly. Amy transitioned from colleague to line manager which was a difficult change when the staff she was now managing had helped to train her in the sheltered housing officer role only one year before, with some of them having been in the role for many years.

Since being in a team leader role Amy has completed multiple training courses on middle management, leadership and gained very valuable experience along the way. She has completed a CIH level 5 qualification in Housing and is currently mid-way through an ILM level 5 in leadership and management. This has helped Amy to reflect on what qualities she holds and how to use skills day to day to ensure staff and residents feel supported. For the future Amy is hoping to progress to a senior management level in the housing sector.
