Bashir is a housing professional with nearly 40 years of working in social housing and for the community in East London.
During the pandemic, Bashir led the Bangla Covid-19 Advice Project (BCAP) funded by the National Lottery – a programme in East London dedicated to providing Bengali-language videos and health information reaching out to over 40,000 people in the Bangladeshi community. For this remarkable work the Queen acknowledged his *exceptional contribution to life in our great city* and the Mayor of Hackney made a Civic Award for working for the community and *helping to save lives*.
Bashir is currently leading on the community engagement on Amar Bari, Amar Jibon (My home, my life), a 3-year research project developing living environments for Bangladeshi elders. This is a collaborative and co-produced project funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust. The three key project partners are Bangla Housing Association, The Open University and Housing LIN.
