Shirley has a background in nursing, and worked at the British Heart Foundation for 18 years heading up the regional team and managing their flagship Hearty Lives programme which addressed inequalities in cardiovascular disease.
She joined ExtraCare in July 2013, to oversee the Wellbeing and Enriched Opportunities Programme’s (dementia and mental health) as well as expanding services into the communities around ExtraCare locations.
Shirley completed the Older Person’s Fellowship with Kings College London in 2018, her Quality Improvement Project being to implement the new frailty tool as part of ExtraCare’s new Wellbeing App. The tool is now embedded in the Wellbeing programme and used in all locations. She also oversees the use of smart technology to improve health and wellbeing for residents.
