Charlotte is the co-founder of InCommon, a social enterprise bringing generations together. InCommon runs educational programmes for primary school children to learn from and build friendships with their older neighbours. Older people take part in our workshops as volunteers, sharing their time, skills and experience with the children and enjoying getting to know younger members of their communities. Since the pandemic, InCommon has moved to remote connections, with their Buddies project facilitating intergenerational phonecalls, letter exchanges and creative projects from a distance.
Charlotte started InCommon with co-founder Laura in 2017, after both spending time working in social care and taking part in Year Here, a social innovation learning programme. Both founders were influenced by the enriching experience of spending time with older generations and share a firm belief in the mutual benefits of intergenerational connection.
