Improving later life. Vulnerability and resilience in older people

This new publication from Age UK is one in a series that explores some of the factors and experiences that make older people more susceptible to the risk of adverse outcomes in later life.

With chapters by Jeremy Porteus on Homes and Housing and Professor Chris Phillipson on developing age-friendly neighbourhoods, the publication provides an excellent summary of the available evidence regarding the maintenance of resilience.

It suggests that if we don't recognise and offer support to older people who are vulnerable, there is risk of moving into a situation where their quality of life deteriorates.

As a result these people and their families experience results in worse outcomes with consequential costs for the state.
