Improving the Life Chances of Disabled People

This Government report sets an ambitious vision for improving the life chances of disabled people in four key areas. Firstly by helping disabled people to achieve independent living, secondly by improving support for families with young disabled children, thirdly by facilitating a smooth transition into adulthood and fourthly by improving support and incentives for getting and staying in employment.

The strategy will be driven forward by a new Office for Disability Issues reporting to the Minister for Disabled People and was produced by Prime Minister's Strategy Unit, Department of Work and Pensions, Department of Health, Department for Education and Skills, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
