Japan's search for a seamless care package

Case Study 92

At a time when, post Dilnot, the focus in England is on the Care Act and delivering more integrated and holistic care and support services for older people, this new Housing LIN Case Study no 92 by Mayumi Hayashi, a Fellow at King's College London, takes a detailed look at the very serious challenge of meeting the unprecedented demand for long-term healthcare and social care for Japan's ageing population. It offers some fresh insights into recent and current measures taken, particularly the micro-multifunctional community facility for a total care package with some appreciation of both the impact and remaining challenges in this field.
