Older People - strategy

The resources that relate to strategic planning of housing for older people are divided in to 4 groups, as shown below. There is some overlap between the 4 groups:

  • National strategy -policies produced by government or other national bodies that are about the overall frameworks within which housing and related services should be developed.
  • Regional strategy - resources about planning for older people's housing within large population groups including the development of spatial strategies.
  • Local strategy - resources aimed at helping planners working at more local levels on older people's housing, including through Local Area Agreement.
  • Examples - examples of housing strategies for older people developed in various parts of England.

Older people's housing strategies will contain plans for extra care housing. You can find more detail about strategies for extra care housing in the Housing - Extra Care pages.
